My little brain has been occupied with trying to tone up a flaccid plot. In fact it's so flaccid it's positively obese. All it wants to do is loll around watching Wimbledon or sit in the garden thinking about not weeding. Or is that me?
Anyway, the sun is shining. Not too hot, not too windy. Perfect, thinks Teabag, for a bit of flower sniffing.

Watching hunky men whacking their balls around is always much more preferable to weeding (or writing minutes - which is what I am supposed to be doing as I write this comment instead). Glad the writing pants are working. I think I must have acquired a pair from M & S, as I have been ranting a bit lately, too. Hmmmmm ...
Writing pants sounda great idea and as for watching Wimbledon - dont tennis players have wonderful bums???!!
There is so much more reason to watch Wimbledon this year is there not?! Watching Tim Henman was torture. Hopefully watching Mr Murray will be less of a finger chewing experience - but having said that he certainly teased us with his performance the other day!
Sit back and enjoy - it will be over in less than two weeks than you can knuckle down to the plot!
Your flowers look beautiful, did the dogs plant the pots for you?
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!
They look soooo lovely.
Enjoy while it lasts and relax. Ideas, sentences even whole plot solutions will come to you.
Promise.
What a lovely summery picture.
I'm glad the writing pants are working - I'm sure your plot will have toned thighs in no time at all :o))
Lovely picture.
Do you think you might lend me your writing pants or would that be unhygenic? There is always the worry that I might strech them quite a bit. No, I must buy my own so I'm off to S&M - oops, sorry, M&S.
Annie - and you have every reason to rant. Grrrr:-(
Flowerpot - they do indeed!:-)
MOB - Henman was always hard to watch. Let's hope Murray has couple more matches like today's:-)
Babaloo - They didn't plant them but I may teach Teabag to dead head:-)
Felix - Thank you, I will. Have a wonderful time you two:-)
Karen - Ah, toned thighs would be nice:-)
Fia - Just make sure you don't get M&Ms instead. And if you do, save me some:-)
Just dippin in for a few minutes lovely plot. Needing a bit of encouragement for me own bits!
Enjoying the lovely weather but seem to have all indoor jobs at present - This house will be straight - one day!
Frankie
Hope you find the momentum you need, often just "letting go" helps...
Tennis for toning plots - like it :-) Maybe it will work with the back and forth of zingy dialogue to whizz the plot along????

I can see why that garden would lure you outside. Pretty flowers, lots of sun, and cute dogs...only lovely boys playing the tennis could lure me inside.
Must order some writing pants. I've lost my momentum and can't seem to find it anywhere. (Perhaps they sell it in the same aisle?)
Good flower pots. Only positive thing about avoiding writing is that one is obliged to do household tasks instead - except when watching Wimbledon, of course.
Hi when you said "flaccid plot" I thought you were talking droopy flowers, whereas your flowers look very perky. Lovely colours too,and perfect tennis weather for a change. So enjoy whatever you are doing.
Lane, that is a lovely lovely photo. I'd be tempted to go outside myself, even though my garden is a sad disgrace (excuse is that the boys need it as a football pitch. Ahem. However, this morning is gloomy and humid and I'm hoping we can miss the rain that hit Glastonbury last night.
I don't know how I missed this post?
Love the pic. Don't they look so adorable all tiny and pretty in the garden with those lovely pots filled with colourful flowers?
So glad the pants are working. I must get some.
Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy Wimbledon ... hell, just enjoy!
I love that pic!
Glad Peg and Teas are enjoying the garden x
Good luck with your efforts to tone up a flaccid plot. A stiff challenge but I'm sure ultimately very satisfying when it all comes together.
It was a pleasure coming to this page:
Love the new blue background. (Maybe it isn't new but I'm only just noticing?)
Love the painted masthead.
Love the flowers with the two doggy gardeners in attendance.
Glad those pants seem to be working; need to order a pair myself.
(Someone said tennis buns? Off I go to do some ogling...)
How on earth did I manage to miss this post?? It's only just appeared on my blogger thingumy!!
I think your pots look lovely and I love the spirally thing that looks a bit like a teapot!!
C x
Just like Teabag I'm sure you'll sniff out a good plot in the end m'dear. A new painting on your page? Lovely colours :) TFx
Aw what a lovely photo Lane (and I love your heading, how do you do that, would love one of my own...)
Glad to see your writing pants are working (Fia I so loved your comment) and that you are keeping on keeping on.
I have a photo of Flynn that I might put on my blog next week. He's keeping guard over the BBQ, I swear to God, he will not move.
Enjoy the weather x
Loved surgery and therapy, so so funny, please don't stop doing these.
Love the idea of thinking about not weeding, I do a lot of that too and procrastinating. I think a lot about not writing too.
Perfect weather for resting. I've got 3 plots that want my attention but no time to give it :( Love the photo of your little pots and Teabag.
Gorgeous photo, Lane.
Curious mind needs to know what will happen when your wear out the wring pants.
xxPat
The Girlz are back--all three! Yey! Just recently I was wondering how Peggy F and Teas were spending their early summer. Now we know--as gardening inspectors. As for those writing pants--I have several pairs of flannels that are too hot now but oh so comfortable. On this side of the pond we're more likely to search for eating pants--you know the ones with those unfortunate little tabs on the side of the waistband so you can adjust as you go?
I'm glad the writing pants are working. I've put on the writing jammies (bought especially, I'll have you know) and they are not working. I seemed to fare better in leggings... As for the weeding, gad woman! why weed when there's wimbledon to be watched. It's no contest!
I think lolling around watching Wimbledon is perfect in this heat. You can always sort out the flaccid pot and maybe trim your bush later.
No, not just you. Too hot to weed anyway. And Wimbledon is just something that has to be done this time of year, I think there might be a law...
Wimbledon just has to be done Lane. Oops just noticed thats exactly what Claire P wrote. Oh well...cant think of anything else to say. Wimbledon beckons. x
I need writing pants. I think the elastic may have gone in mine. Also, I'd do almost anything for a flaccid plot - any plot at all, for that matter. V much enjoying your blog, which I've just discovered thanks to ChrisH.
Ooh, how strange (1) that I missed this (2) that I've just posted about plot - must be in the air with all the pollen and (3) that the lovely LBD is just above me here - she's a fab writer (grrrr!).
And that photo of teabag is sooo cute I could eat her, well maybe not quite but she is soooo sweet! Peggy looks lovely too (stroke, stroke in case she's jealous).
Hello Lane, I'm glad the writing pants are working, and I hope they've continued to work through the heat wave. I sympathise with the way you wrestle with distractions and procrastination - I'm just the same - but I'm sure when you do get on with the writing you produce some brilliant stuff. Keep it up!
Gosh, where have I been - I missed this post and the lovely change to your blog. So glad the writing pants are working! x
You sound just like a writer. I hope the writing pants work out.
I just scrolled down my sidebar and realised you had sneaked a post in whilst I was absenteeing myself from blogland - so sorry it has taken me so long to realise.
I love your pots of flowers and the two sniffy noses - and keep on wearing the pants
I need writing pants quick. Where can I order some? That's a lovely photo and what a cute name for a cute dog.
Lane, many, many thanks for stopping by the Miami Herald blog and leaving a comment on my feature. You're a great writer-buddy! (((hugs)))
Hi Lane
I hope the flaccid plot is nicely toned by now. It takes a lot of work to get a book out, doesn't it? Sorry I haven't been over here for a while, life's been hectic. Cut Short, the first in my new series of crime thrillers, has now launched. You can see some of the reviews on amazon (all 5 star so far...) I hope you decide to read it, and that you enjoy it. If you do read it, please let me know what you think !
aww those flowers look beautiful:::remind me of the pots I left in my mums garden before leaving Glasgow for france....
hopê you are well dear...just know that writing this is taking ages on a french keyboard x
You can come in from the garden, Wimbledon is over - Murray didn't make it - and it is August already.
Lane, having read Cally's inspirational post and been jealous of your award (!) I hereby request that you pop over to mine, issue some strong inspiration and hopefully prophetic words about me bagging an agent by next year?! x
